Starter templates

Lexical decision – starter

Classic psycholinguistic task: is this letter string a real word? Measures word/nonword RT and accuracy. Replace these strings with your own; keep nonwords matched to words on length and syllable count so the contrast is not a length confound.

Semantic priming – starter

A prime word appears, then a target. Related primes speed the target up; the priming effect is unrelated − related mean RT. Each target appears once with a related prime and once with an unrelated one, so the contrast is within-target.

Stroop task – starter

Classic colour-word congruency RT task. Measures the Stroop effect (incongruent − congruent mean RT).

Simon task – starter

Spatial-compatibility RT task. Stimulus side vs response side; Simon effect = incompatible − compatible mean RT.

MTurk-ready Stroop – starter

Classic Stroop wired for MTurk. Server-side completion code mints on the thank-you page after attention checks pass. Set PayoutMode = PANEL_PER_SESSION in the Recruitment step and paste the redirect URL into your HIT.

Eriksen flanker – starter

Respond to the direction of the centre arrow while ignoring the flankers. Flanker effect = incongruent − congruent mean RT. Keep congruent and incongruent counts balanced so the contrast is not confounded with frequency.

Go / No-go – starter

Respond as fast as possible to Go stimuli and withhold the response on No-go stimuli. Measures prepotent-response inhibition: RT on Go trials plus commission errors on No-go trials. Keep No-go trials rare (roughly 25%) so the Go response stays prepotent.

IAT-lite – starter

Reduced Implicit Association Test. Concept and attribute words are sorted with the same two response keys; in the shared block the pairing is compatible, in the conflicting block it is reversed. The D-style score is the RT cost of the conflicting mapping. Replace these words with your own concepts and attributes, and counterbalance block order across participants.
